Frequently Asked Questions

How do I capture an artwork?

From the Capture tab, point your camera at the artwork and tap the shutter. You can also photograph the museum or gallery label — Artoto will automatically detect which photos are artworks and which are labels, then extract the title, artist, year, and other metadata for you.

The label extraction got something wrong. Can I edit it?

Yes. On the Save screen, every field is editable before you save. After saving, open any artwork and tap Edit to update its metadata, add or remove photos, or change the collection it belongs to.

How do I organize my artworks into collections?

Collections (also called portfolios) group your artworks by exhibition, museum, city, or any theme you choose. Create a new collection from the home screen, then assign artworks to it during capture or from the artwork detail page.

Can I share my collection with others?

Yes. You can make individual artworks or entire collections public and share a link with anyone — no Artoto account required to view. You can also generate beautiful Instagram story cards branded with your username from any artwork.

How do I delete my account?

Open the Profile tab, go to Settings, and tap Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and personal data within 30 days. See our Privacy Notice for details on data retention.

Is Artoto free?

Yes, Artoto is free to download and use. Some advanced AI features may have usage limits.

Which devices does Artoto support?

Artoto is available for iOS and Android. iOS requires version 15.5 or later. A web version is also available at www.artoto.io.

Troubleshooting

The camera won’t open

Artoto needs camera permission to capture artworks. On iOS, go to Settings › Artoto and enable Camera. On Android, go to Settings › Apps › Artoto › Permissions and enable Camera.

Photos aren’t uploading

Check that you have a stable internet connection. Uploads will resume automatically once you’re back online. If the problem persists, try closing and reopening the app.

Label extraction isn’t working

Make sure the label is well-lit, in focus, and fills most of the frame. If the text is unusual or in a language not well supported, you can always type the metadata in manually.

I forgot my password

From the sign-in screen, tap “Forgot password?” and enter your email address. We’ll send you a link to reset it. If you signed up using Apple or Google, use that same provider to sign in again.
